What does Metanoia mean?
Metanoia is a Greek word. It means repentance, to turn around. When Jesus spoke to the woman caught in the act of adultery, He asked her "Woman where are your accusers?" She replied, "There are none Lord." "Neither do I condemn you. Go and sin no more." or Metanoia.

What is your success rate?
If you are referring to those who have left homosexuality to pursue sexual wholeness in their lives our BEGINNINGS program participants have an 85% - 90% success rate.

Is Metanoia Ministries just for those affected by homosexuality?
Our ministry is for everyone affected by sexual brokenness; this includes homosexuality, bisexuality, sexual addiction and other types of sexual brokenness among men, women and young adults. We also have programs that support family and friends of those who are suffering with sexual brokenness.

Is Metanoia Ministries affiliated with a particular denomination?
Metanoia Ministries is an inter-denominational ministry. We partner with many denominations and affiliations including: Assemblies of God, Baptist, Catholic, Foursquare, Lutheran, Ministers Fellowship International, Presbyterian and others.

I struggle with homosexuality. What can I do now?
First, know that you are not alone. There are others who have struggled with homosexuality. With the help of Christ and trusted others, they left homosexuality to pursue God's intent for their lives. You need a support group to help you understand why you are struggling this way. We recommend that you first get a copy of the book and CDs, BEGINNINGS: Healing the Wounded Soul (available in our online store). Second, you need a support group of people who will come along side you as you begin this journey. You will not be able to overcome this alone. Join a BEGINNINGS Group near you for support.

"I'm gay." Someone close to me told me they're gay. I don't know what to do.
When families and friends hear these words, the news can be devastating. A lot of emotions go through our minds - anger, denial, fear etc. Yet God is present with us. He heard the words "I'm gay" the same time you did. We recommend that you purchase BEGINNINGS: Hope & Healing for Families and Friends of a Gay Loved One book and CDs (available in our online store). Also, whether your loved one is going to seek help or not, you need support right now. You need others who understand what you are going through and can come along side of you. We invite you to join a BEGINNINGS group in your area.

Who can start a BEGINNINGS group?
Lay leaders, therapists and pastors facilitate BEGINNINGS Groups with the support of their church or ministry. Generally, someone who has a heart and passion for this ministry is a great candidate to lead a BEGINNINGS Group. Learn more about starting a BEGINNINGS Group.

How do I start a BEGINNINGS group in my church or ministry?
To get started:

  1. Purchase a BEGINNINGS Kit (most groups start with BEGINNINGS: Hope & Healing for Family & Friends of a Gay Loved-One).
  2. Register your BEGINNINGS Group with Metanoia Ministries.
  3. Contact the Regional Coordinator nearest you for answers and support in establishing and leading your BEGINNINGS Group.
  4. Use the online resources for BEGINNINGS Facilitators.

Which type of BEGINNINGS Group should we start first?
We recommend starting with the BEGINNINGS Group for Families and Friends. Family members and friends are the ones who represent the largest percentage of people seeking support in most churches. Next, start a group for those struggling with sexual brokenness. Third, start a BEGINNINGS Group for youth and young adults. Contact a Regional Coordinator near you for more information.

I'm a pastor, and wonder how does the BEGINNINGS program fit into my church?
The BEGINNINGS program easily incorporates into any church in one of two existing formats. The first way is as an addition to the recovery ministry within your church. An example would be if your church is using Celebrate Recovery. On the same night, people would come to the general worship/greeting/announcements and then break into their respective BEGINNINGS group(s). BEGINNINGS would function under the covering of your recovery ministry.

The second way is through a home group meeting or mini-church. Offer the BEGINNINGS program as a home group with a specific purpose and duration. An example is a BEGINNINGS home group for families and friends affected by homosexuality.

Either format provides a needed ministry for those presently in the church. Plus, it expands the church's outreach into the local community. Learn more here.
