Desire to Help Others
Do you have a passion to help people affected by homosexuality and other
forms of sexual brokenness? In churches and homes across North America
people now have a place where they can be heard and begin healing. Now
you can make a difference in the lives of your friends and neighbors.
Complete Ministry-in-a-Box
BEGINNINGS kits contain leader's guides, participant books and CD's structured
as a six week course. As the leader you can listen to the session in advance
then present it in your own words or simply play the CD at the session.
Who Can Become a BEGINNINGS Group Leader?
Most BEGINNINGS Groups leaders are lay people with experience in one
of these areas:
- Group leadership experience with:
- AACA
- Celebrate Recovery
- Desert Stream
- Exodus International
- Living Waters
- NARTH
- or a similar organization
- Masters degree in counseling and experience in group work or support
groups
- Experience or training in leading support groups
Phase One: Start a Families
& Friends BEGINNINGS Group
We recommend starting a families and friends group in the church first
for several reasons. First, it is the easiest way to introduce the topic
to the local congregation. Second, very few people object to family members
receiving help because of a gay loved one. Finally, the families and friends
represent the largest group of people affected by homosexuality within
the church. The families will play a large role in reaching out to those
who struggle with homosexuality, in Phase Two.
Phase Two: Start a BEGINNINGS Group For Those Struggling
With Homosexuality
Those that struggle need support too. Utilizing the families and friends
to reach out to those struggling with homosexuality is quite effective.
The families already have a passion and burden to see people free. Their
hearts are already open to ministering to the struggling men and women
within the church. The families and friends can be a vital resource to
the struggler.
Phase Three: Start a BEGINNINGS Group for TEENS & Young Adults
Young people today are struggling with their sexual identity. They need
support and encouragement. They would receive security and strength from
these same families and friends.
How You Can Get Started
- Talk with a church leader to ensure their support.
- Purchase a BEGINNINGS kit for your group.
(Most groups charge participants a fee to cover the cost of the kit,
participant books and refreshments.)
